The Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has set the ball rolling to transform India into a digitally empowered and knowledge economy with special initiatives:
- Skilling India
IT & Internet will drive the “Skill India” program as ICT is the key enabler of Labour Market Information System (LMIS), a national database of all major aspect of skill development created with Central and state government partnerships.
- Startup India
The startup ecosystem will thrive with over 100,000 new-age firms in the next 10 years, employing 3.5 million people and targeting a value of $500 billion with Digital India initiative.
- Digital India
The government’s Digital India initiative is to make government services available to citizens electronically by improving online infrastructure and by increasing Internet connectivity. The programme is projected at Rs. 1,13,000 crores.
- Make in India
The expo promotes the national program “Make in India” initiative to facilitate investments, foster innovations, enhance skill development, conceptualize and promote manufacturing in ICT sector.
- Smart Cities
The government has allocated an outlay of Rs 98,000 crore (US$ 15,329.26 million) to execute 100 smart cities, and the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT)
